Diagnosis - Sclerosing adenosis

Features to note:


• Always scan these biopsies at low power first to try and get a handle on the overall architecture of the breast and the lesion



• Sclerosed units regularly spaced through biopsy



• Crowded acini that have lost intervening stroma - some have rounded contours, some apparently infiltrative - can be mistaken for cancer



• Two cell types discernible, particularly with immuno in difficult cases
